Non-work (mainly Photoshop, some Illustrator)

Below is a selection of samples (mainly Photoshop-based) I have produced in my own time for various other sites or competitions. Each image is constructed from different photos and/or Photoshop brushes. (Click on each thumbnail to see a larger image.)

  1. View Acorn (made from part of suit of armour)
  2. View After the storm (rearranged wood, added sky, sea, butterflies)
  3. View Alone at last (created water/reflection, added pier, man, boat)
  4. View Attack! (added fire & smoke effects, planes, lighting)
  5. View Awakening (added human head to foreground statue, lighting & effects)

  7. View Bird house (used trash container for bird house, added tree, bird, relections)

  9. View Bourdoir (created from different textures, plus girl, flower, cushions)
  10. View Brass dragonfly (Created from close-up elements of brass instrument)

  12. View Chapel by the sea (added background, sky, sea, candle, lighting)
  13. View Cheese trap (Illustrator and Photoshop - all from scratch)

  16. View Clouds (scene created in Photoshop using 'watercolour' brushes)

  19. View Darth goes skiing (amended helmet, added accessories, Death Star)
  20. View Desserted (sic) statues (coloured statues and added background/accessories)

  22. View Droplet (added swimmers to water droplet)
  23. View Early excavation (original from deserted wheel, added rope, bucket etc.)
  24. View End of the day (window shape taken from car wheel, added backgd/lighting)
  25. View Fan girl (added mist, lighting, colour to look like stage)
  26. View Festival dancers (brought to life from pencil drawing source)
  27. View Fishy business (originally an empty room with desk/chair)
  28. View Frog (saucepan, frog, steam, reflection added to gas ring image)
  29. View Phoenix (design created from same gas ring flames)
  30. View Gallery (created from disused wooden planks)
  31. View Golden egg (added egg, lighting, colouring)

  34. View Watching (eagle and tree cut from original, with new background)
  35. View Golden eagle (bird on tree given a different, 'golden' treatment)

  39. View Hedge (created from another image, birds, lighting, sky added)

  64. View The property agent (the building is all that's from original image)
  65. View The home-coming (turned day to night and added boy, trees and lighting)
  66. View The party (carpet created from texture on cactus plant, all else added)
  67. View Time to feed the fish (black & white, blurred hand, added aquarium to watch)
  68. View Treasure chest (added coins, fish, background, effects)
  69. View Trumpet flower (created from bells of musical instruments, added droplets)
  70. View Twilight zone (added rain, recoloured)
  71. View Time-out (earth only external source)
  72. View USB attack ('when technology comes alive' - everything created from scratch)
  73. View Virus guards (a different take on the software option)
  74. View Word-play (hand-drawn, scanned in, then finished in Photoshop)
  75. View Wolf in sheep's clothing (Illustrator & Photoshop)
  76. View Wiggly Woo (inspired by the nursery rhyme)

Learning is part of the fun!

I love learning and when it comes to design, getting to try things 'outside the box' is a fun and valuable experience. Experimenting should be fun! I can recommend a number of websites which offer designers, old and new, the opportunity to test and develop their skills in online challenges, as well as meet like-minded people.
